From the conversation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency - Tokyo, residence of the President of Azerbaijan, February 24, 1998

Mr Fujita,

Thank you for taking your time to meet me. I express my gratitude to you.

I express my gratitude to you for the interest of your Agency in Azerbaijan and for the information you gave about the specific directions of the cooperation in our country. I would like you know that I am aware of your views in detail.  Establishment of relations between Azerbaijan and the Agency is very beneficial for the both sides and a special attention should be paid to the favourable use of the existing opportunities for strengthening this cooperation.  Mr. Fujita, I thank to you for your support to Azerbaijan in training the experts for macroeconomics, financial system, protection of environment and administration spheres.

These bodies are very necessary for the development of our country which has recently gained its independence.  I express my gratitude for your proposals concerning the preparation of the project on the protection of environment and your large opportunities for sending machinery and equipment for the agriculture of our republic and your selfless help to Azerbaijan further, I consider the implementation of such projects very helpful.
