Lisbon summit of OSCE

Fifth summit of the Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe held on December 2-3, 1996 in Lisbon. The declaration reflects the principles of solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, it was adopted on behalf of the chairman of OSCE by the 53 member-states. The principles were the restoration of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and Armenia, granting of a self-demonstration status to the Nagorno-Karabakh and ensuring the security of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia opposed those principles; consequently it refused the proposals of the Minsk Group elaborated on the basis of those principles.
