One of the numerous meetings of Heydar Aliyev during his official visit to the United States on 27 July -7 August 1997 took place with the members of the editorial board of “The New York Times” on 28 July. Heydar Aliyev noted the professional approach of the editorial staff of “The New York Times”, which is a popular newspaper and gives a deep coverage of the life and problems of many countries and peoples around the world.
Heydar Aliyev gave detailed information on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and expressed his confidence that of the influential “The New York Times” will assist in supporting the right and fair position of Azerbaijan in the international arena.
